Tottenham prepare for squad overhaul with £60m star expected to lead the summer clearout
Yukihito Taguchi-USA TODAY Sports

Tottenham striker Richarlison could be leading a massive summer clearout as per the latest report from The Telegraph.

Despite a promising start to the season, Tottenham’s performances in the second half of the season have been disappointing at the least.

They have lost their last three games in a row, including defeats to two of the main London rivals, Chelsea and Arsenal.

What is perhaps more worrying is the lack of effort and poor body language witnessed in the recent performances, compared to what was witnessed in the team in earlier games.

Manager Ange Postecoglou was seen fuming at his players on Thursday against Chelsea and after the game admitted that it was his fault he has not been able to instil the right mentality.

And the Australian has admitted that a big change is needed in the summer transfer window.

Speaking after the game, he explained how there have been significant developments in the team over the two transfer windows but there is still a long way to go.

He said (as quoted by The Guardian):

“We need change. Change has to happen. You can’t want to alter your course and quite dramatically for this club because we went down a certain direction. And now we’re pivoting to a whole different direction, expect the same people are going to be on that. It’s just not going to happen.

“We’ve had two windows and we’ve had some development of players, for sure, but when I say we’ve still got a long way to go, that’s what I’m talking about. We can’t be there yet because it’s impossible to say you’re going to have drastic change and yet expect everyone to be on that journey.”

Richarlison could lead summer clearout

According to The Telegraph, it could be the Brazilian striker who could be leading the big squad overhaul in the summer.

Tottenham are said to be in search of an out-an-out striker and will be prepared to listen to offers for Richarlison who has attracted interest from Saudi previously.

Spurs signed him from Everton for £60m back in the summer of 2022 but he has failed to prove his money worth.

In his debut season, he only scored 1 goal in the league and his poor form continues for the early part of the season.

However, since returning from his groin injury back in November, he has picked up his old form, scoring 9 goals in 11 starts.

Besides him, Emerson Royal, Pierre-Emile Hojbjeg, Bryan Gil, and Giovani Lo Celso are also expected to be sold.
