Timothy Weah divided opinion amongst pundits and experts regarding a possible second yellow card in Juventus’ draw with Roma.

The 24-year-old American full back started the clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday and picked up a booking just four minutes into the clash in Rome, forcing him to play slightly more subdued for the remainder of the match.

Things came to a head in the second half, when Weah was at the centre of an incident involving Leandro Paredes. In the 59th minute, the Juventus full back slipped after laying off a pass, colliding with the Roma midfielder, prompting a minor brawl to break out on the pitch.

Weah divides opinions

Tuttosport suggested that Weah could’ve been shown a second yellow card and sent off for the incident due to the follow-through, a sentiment shared by Corriere dello Sport, whilst Gazzetta dello Sport felt it wasn’t a foul due to the fact that he got the ball first.

The incident inflamed tensions on the pitch and forced Massimiliano Allegri to take off the 24-year-old just moments later, replacing him with Filip Kostic.
